I Can’t Believe You Don’t Have A Website

Jan 30, 2010 – Local Searches are on the rise. Currently their are over 2 Billion local searches performed every month and that number just continues to go up. People have learned that when you just type in Plumber for instance you are going to get companies in Atlanta or Chicago as I just did and I live over 800 miles from either place.
People are also turning away from the yellow page ads of the past and turn to the internet because it is faster to type a few words into the search engine than fumble through the phone book, if you can even find the phone book.
Once they are there, they look at the local results and research shows that 56 to 60 percent of all local business goes to the company listed in the number one position. Is that your company? Chances are it’s not. Most people thing that having a is all it takes and the money will start rolling in and that is not how it works. You can pay someone big bucks to get you listed in the searches but then you will show up in Chicago and Atlanta.
It takes a lot of skill and know how to increase your presence the right way on the search engines to ensure you are seen in your local markets and not in towns thousands of miles away from your business.
The other little know fact is that most developers don’t know how to get you listed properly either. They are awesome at designing your site and they will get you listed on the web but that’s about the end of it. This is a niche talent and not one that every company knows how to do.
I don’t know everything their is to know about the web, and am sure as heck not a professional web developer or designer but I do know how to get your company listed on the internet where it needs to be.
What would you do if your business where to increase by 50%? Would you have to create more jobs, work longer hours, get more emergency calls or pull your hair out trying to figure out what to do with the increase in business? Most business owners dream of expanding but are spending their monies in the wrong advertising outlets. They are spending it on radio, print ads and tv ads and don’t understand why it isn’t working. Here are some of the facts, 1 when I’m driving I am listening to my XM radio or my ipod and when I’m driving I don’t need a plumber for instance. I don’t buy the local paper anymore because any local or world news I need to know about I can get on the internet and I watch internet TV so don’t have to watch commercials. And I can assure you, so are a lot of other people.
The internet is the wave of the future and now is the time to get on board. The longer you wait the more your competitor has the chance to build a relationship with the local market and you just continue to lose out on sales and jobs. How much are you spending on radio, print and tv verses the rate of return? Will they let you advertise for free if the spots you are buying don’t work? what type of written assurances do they give you that your ads will work or you don’t have to pay them?
Now you saying their is no one out there in the advertising world that works like that. I would disagree because that is exactly how I work. I tell my clients that if the invest in me for 90 days and they don’t get the results i promise, i will work for free until we reach our goals. I know how important money is and I also understand advertising and seeing no results. This is when I put my years of computer experience, web design and knowledge of SEO to work. I only work with a limited number of clients and only work with 1 client in any particular field. This prevents me from playing customers against each other, doing more for one customer because his budget is more than the other guy and so on. Besides, I just don’t want to work that hard.
If I were in a brick and mortar type business or a service business that required me to go to a customers home or place of business, i would have most of my advertising budget in internet rather than other types of marketing.
So where do you go from here, you find a person that specializes in LOCAL on line marketing and put your money to work and get results. Remember what I said about assurances, ask anyone in the on-line local marketing business and if they are not willing to give you the assurances you need for your investment, find someone else. Don’t you think it’s time that you get a warranty with your purchase, I mean after all aren’t you giving on to your customers?
