Cranston is both inscrutable and boring. Incredible production layout and wonderful outcomes get lost in a film that keeps the viewer at Ann’s magnitude all the way through. Rhapsody in August: Average (by his estimations) little Kurosawa piece in reference to the hurtful rememberings of a Japanese woman who recollects the bombing of Nagasaki at the end of WW2. Gere, in a hyped up cameo, doesn’t appear too out of place as a Japanese American member of the old lady’s lengthened family. Cast includes Sachiko Murase, Richard Gere, and Narumi Kayashima. Hail Caesar: Horrible music-megastar wannabe (Chamber) is in love with an offensive debutante, whose dad is plotting to yndermine an upcoming concert. Not a very good film. Cast includes Anthony Michael Chamber, Robert Downey, Jr., Frank Gorshin, Samuel L. Jackson, Judd Nelson, and Nicholas Pryor. (97 minutes, 1993)
Reckless: It’s Christmas Eve, and a ditsy, seemingly cheerful spouse (Farrow) is informed by her abruptly regretful spouse that he has taken out a contract on her life. A conceivably smart spoof of middle-style domestic relationships and fake holiday praise swiftly descends into a roaming, completely absurd comedy of the ridiculous. Cast includes Mia Farrow, Scott Glenn, Mary-Louise Parker, Tony Goldwyn, Stephen Dorff, Eileen Brennan, and Giancarlo Esposito. (92 minutes, 1995)
For Keeps: Studious adolescent Ringwald finds that she pregnant, and must swiftly face adult duties. Topic is most beneficial, although the outcome is unsurprising and fake. Tim Kazurinsky coauthored the screenplay. Cast includes Molly Ringwald, Randall Batinkoff, Kenneth Harms, Miriam Flynn, Conchata Ferrell, Sharon Brown, Renee Estevez, and Larry Drake.
